Experiential tourism pilot project : Improved tourism offer starting next season!

The ACCORD Recreational Tourism Cluster and the ÉCONOMUSÉE® Society Network are pleased to unveil the results of the experiential tourism pilot project.

With the help of the Service aux entreprises of Groupe Collegia, the approach engaged half a dozen of multisectorial tourism enterprises, including two museum organizations, an agri-food economusem and three arts and crafts workshops. All enterprises benefited from this pilot project - the development of an intervention plan allowed them to make progress regarding their own projects.

Despite the modest fiscal projections associated with the new activities, they act as a lever since they can improve the notoriety and performance of the enterprises, and drive traffic. The addition of new services and the improvement of some aspects of the enterprises in order to create a richer experience will allow these enterprises to reach their business goals.

It must be noted that two enterprises started the process of getting the ÉCONOMUSÉE® accreditation during the pilot project. The six (6) following experiences will be offered as pilot activities from the beginning of the upcoming tourist season:

All together, the activities developed during the pilot project represent value-added benefits to the experiential tourism offer of the Îles de la Madeleine.

This collaborative project was made possible thanks to the financial participation of the ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et des Exportations, Emploi-Québec and the ÉCONOMUSÉE® Society Network.

The financial support provided by the ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et des Exportations du Québec is part of the Programme d'appui au développement des secteurs stratégiques et des créneaux d'excellence (program for the development of strategic sectors and clusters of excellence). The purpose of this program is to mobilise and unify the actions of businesses and of their economic partners within the Ministry toward common objectives that support the development of strategic sectors and clusters of excellence.

About the The ÉCONOMUSÉE® Society Network

An ÉCONOMUSÉE® is first and foremost an enterprise that operates in the field of fine crafts or the agri-food sector and uses authentic know-how in the production of commodities. An ÉCONOMUSÉE® showcases artisans and their trades. The concept allows artisans to open their workshop to the general public so they can share their knowledge and passion and sell products made on the premises.

From a tourism perspective, an ÉCONOMUSÉE® enhances the quality and diversity of regional tourism offers, complements the main attractions, extends the duration of stays, becomes a great window to promote local culture and know-how, and - in this particular case - meets the needs of experiential and gourmet tourism.

From an economic and regional development perspective, an ÉCONOMUSÉE® allows the enterprises to increase their benefits (product sales, visit fees) while forcing them to diversify their activities. In this particular case, it also creates a bigger number of jobs within the enterprises and contributes to the occupation of the territory.
