The second largest industry in the archipelago, the tourism product in the Îles de la Madeleine is founded primarily on developing ecotourism and adventure tourism. A whole new clientele is looking for unique experiences and for outstanding, safe places to practice their favourite sports; and these people are now discovering that the Islands have a great deal to offer. Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine and Rendez-vous Aventure have been working closely together from the beginning to make the Îles de la Madeleine a must-see destination for these activities, especially for wind and sliding sports.
With this in mind,
"Since its beginnings with the Coupe des Îles, this partnership has grown and evolved with an eye to targeting a new, emerging market. Solidly supported by expert windsurfers, kitesurfers and sea kayakers, working in close collaboration with the Island community, Rendez-vous Aventure, stands proudly among the front runners in its industry. The Madelinots have also realized that their archipelago offers outstanding wind and sea conditions for these sports, and, thanks to the tireless efforts of the various businesses and organizations associated with this event, many young Madelinots are now taking part in these activities. They are a conspicuous presence this year as participants in many events as well as in the Tour Bleu, where the kayak guide/instructors are all Madelinots: a perfect example of increasing local expertise," states the general manager of Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine, Michel Bonato.
"Once again this year, the Îles de la Madeleine are exceedingly proud to be hosting many world champions and world-class athletes. We hope that the latter will enjoy the archipelago and, for many years to come, act as our ambassadors, praising the delights of our destination and confirming its place among the world's ten best for sliding and wind sports", adds Mr. Bonato.
In addition, there will be many journalists and media representatives on hand for this year's event, providing important media exposure for the Îles de la Madeleine and major economic benefits for our industry. Even after the event is over, the memory of it will remain, illustrated by the superb articles and photos presented by the journalists. And we must remember that these wind and sliding sports can be enjoyed all year long, particularly on our vast, frozen lagoons. Summer or winter, the Islands offer unsurpassed conditions for these sports.
The Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine team welcomes you all most warmly to the Îles de la Madeleine, and we hope that everyone present for the event will be both amazed and delighted by the quality and diversity of the competitions.
As for Rendez-Vous Aventure, we wish you a most promising edition, with high winds and high excitement for all: proof positive that, winter or summer, the Îles de la Madeleine have no equal as a destination for lovers of these sports.
