Pauline grew up in the sandbox set up by her parents in front of their very first boutique on La Grave. While they were working on their dream come true, creating objects with the Maggies' sand, she spent her days with the other kids gathering sea glass pieces on the beach, picking up winkles in the bay, studying the lobsters in the cove and playing truth or dare among the rocks. La Grave was her playground, her kingdom!Les étés vécus librement dans la quiétude des Îles et les hivers passés dans le « peace and love » du San Francisco des années 70-80, ont fait de Pauline une jeune femme curieuse, ouverte et confiante, habitée d'un désir de vivre et de respirer grand !
With summers spent peacefully wandering the Islands and winters adrift in the 70s & 80s peace & love vibes of San Francisco, Pauline grew up to be a curious, open-minded and confident young woman, full of love for vast open spaces.
Some fifteen years ago, once her studies and travels were completed, she became the owner of the business her parents had passionately created around their passion for sand. Life being what it is, a surf enthusiast named Martin fell for the Islands and for Pauline, who he came across while chasing a wave. He had found his safe haven; she had found her soul mate, a partnership that turned into a creative team in perfect symbiosis, a reflection of her parents' relationship.
Sharing a passion for design, high tech, travelling, the winds, the sea and kite surfing, they've been surfing this endless creative wave together for the past ten years. This tide uplifts their whole team to center research and experimentation at the core of their creative process. They fuse sand with modern materials and bring a high-tech twist to their most imaginative ideas, always trying to find innovative ways to share their love of nature in balanced and evocative projects.
The boutique, white as the foam crowning the waves, is a refreshing hymn to the life by the seaside. The curated collection of handmade objects is scattered along the shelves, an echo of the many treasures left on the shore by the ebbing tide.
The classic creations of Nicole and Albert now coexist with the new team's modern & sleek pieces, and the Atelier Côtier keeps on finding new answers to the two hippies' original question: what could we do with all this sand?
